Brandywine Valley SPCA opens new adoption center in Montgomery County

An adoption event on Sunday to celebrate the opening will have 80 adoptables waiting for homes and 50% off adoption fees for pets six months and older.

Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) today announced the opening of a new adoption center in partnership with PetSmart Charities. Located in the PetSmart store on Chemical Road in Plymouth Meeting, the PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center (EAC) operated by the BVSPCA is expected to help more than 1,500 dogs and cats per year find homes. Since the center’s soft opening in early March, the BVSPCA has found homes for more than 250 pets.

The PetSmart EAC operates as a full-service BVSPCA adoption location, with dogs and cats living on the premises 24/7 with animal care and adoptions provided by BVSPCA staff. The center includes 17 dog kennels and 24 cat cages. The EAC is the BVSPCA’s first adoption location in Montgomery County, complementing the organization’s four campuses located in Chester County, PA; New Castle County, DE; Kent County, DE; and Sussex County, DE.

While there are more than 1,600 adoption centers in PetSmart stores across the country, the Plymouth Meeting location is one of only 17 centers to house dogs in addition to cats.  “We’re honored to have been chosen by PetSmart Charities to operate this EAC,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA Chief Executive Officer. “Being located in such a high traffic shopping center combined with being our first adoption center in Montgomery County opens the opportunity for many more homeless cats and dogs to find families.”

The BVSPCA will be celebrating the EAC’s opening with an adoption event on Sunday, June 13^th, from 10am to 5pm. In addition to the EAC’s approximately 50 adoptables, more than 30 additional animals will attend the event, for a total of more than 80 adoptables. Cats and dogs six months and older will have their adoption fees reduced by 50%.

The PetSmart Everyday Adoption Center operated by the BVSPCA is in the Metroplex Mall (2100 Chemical Rd, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462). Adopters can visit the cats and dogs during BVSPCA shelter operating hours: Tuesday-Friday 12pm-7pm, Saturday-Sunday 11am-5pm.
