MEGA adoption event – December 2019

One of Our Biggest MEGAS!

What a very MEGA mega: 1,134 adoptions! Every one of those adoptions is a life changed forever.

The Seniors: Gus

This sweet boy left the only home he ever knew when his owners had to move without him. Gus waited seven months at our West Chester Campus hoping for his second chance. He just needed three hours into the opening day of Mega to finally go home.

The Special Needs: Bradford

This sweet senior arrived as a stray at our Georgetown Campus. Unclaimed and seemingly unloved, Bradford went home with an adopter eager to make sure he knew he would be loved forever.

The Cruelty Victims: Captain Amewoica

This gorgeous little panther arrived emaciated, flea-ridden, and with scabs and scars across his body. Part of a hoarding case with 84 other cats, this five-year-old will now know the love a family for the first time.

The Kids & Their Pets

Then there are the kids who picked the cat or dog they’ll grow up with. Five-year-old Cher transferred from an overcrowded shelter where she was at risk. Hard to know who swarmed who first during the adoption meet – the four kids in the family petting Cher or Cher’s big sloppy kisses on their faces.

Rising Tide Lifts the Boats

Mega brings in about 8,000 people looking to give a homeless pet a second chance. We bring all of our animals, with the exception of any that might find the event overwhelming. We also invite other shelters and rescues to share the success with their animals. We’re grateful for these progressive organizations for attending:

  • Animal Rescue League of Berks County

  • Crossing Paths Animal Rescue

  • Currituck County Animal Shelter

  • Delaware Humane Association (DHA)

  • Humane Society of Tulsa

  • North Florida Animal Rescue

  • South Jersey Regional Animal Center

  • St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center

Thank You for Making It Possible! There are 1,134 reasons we worked so hard on this Mega event. This is our seventh Mega, totaling 7,486 lives saved. We celebrate this success with all of you who make it possible – our sponsors Petco Foundation and BOBS from Sketchers, our donors, our volunteers and staff, and this wonderful community of animal advocates. Thank you for helping these homeless pets find the love they deserve!

We’re fortunate to have support from Petco Foundation and BOBS from Sketchers, but it doesn’t come close to covering the cost of saving all these lives. Please donate today to help support this important work.
