Changing times called for changing the structure of our big Walk for Paws Spring fundraiser. Instead of a single family fun day in West Chester, we set out to hold a series of events not just in West Chester but also across the state of Delaware to more fully reach all of our service area.
We depend on Walk for Paws as one of our two major fundraisers of the year, so there was a risk in changing this well-established event. But we also wanted to get back out there seeing all of you in the communities we serve. All told, we held seven events across West Chester, New Castle County, Dover, and Georgetown. Thanks to you, not only did each and every event pay off, we had the most successful Walk for Paws in our 34 years running the event!
We’re so excited to share with you what you helped accomplish:
- Nearly 900 folks attended the Doggie Lure Course, Yoga with Puppies and 5k events.
- An additional 103 people started fundraising pages, joined fundraising teams, and brought in tens of thousands of dollars to support our work from their friends and family.
- All told, we raised almost $145,000 – 115% of our $125,000 goal.
We often say we couldn’t do this hard work without you, and this year’s Walk for Paws success is just one more example of the important role you play in #TeamBVSPCA and all we do for the 16,000+ animals depending on us each year. Your support will allow us to continue working every day to help homeless animals throughout Delaware and the Chester County area, as well as provide vital services through our clinics and programs.
Please take a couple of minutes to hear directly from our employees about the impact you’ve made in the video below. And if you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, please click here to support us in helping the 40+ animals that come through our doors each day by making a donation.
