Petco Love awards BVSPCA $60,000 grant

Newly named Petco Love invests in lifesaving work of Brandywine Valley SPCA

Grant of $60,000 for pet retention will help Delaware and Pennsylvania families keep the pets they love during times of need.

We are so excited to announce a $60,000 grant investment from the newly named Petco Love to support our lifesaving work for animals across the state of Delaware and in Chester and Delaware County in Pennsylvania. The grant scope focuses on pet retention. The BVSPCA will apply the funding to help families keep the dogs and cats they love when faced with financial circumstances that could cause the pest to be surrendered to a shelter.

Petco Love is a nonprofit leading change for pets nationally by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since their founding in 1999 as the Petco Foundation, they’ve empowered organizations with $300 million invested to date in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And, they’ve helped find loving homes for more than 6.5 million pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations, like ours, nationwide.

“Today Petco Love announces an investment in Brandywine Valley SPCA and hundreds of other organizations as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, President of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only one component. This month, we also launched the first of our national tools to empower all animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us.”

“Petco Love and the BVSPCA share the belief that a family shouldn’t have to give up the dogs and cats they love when faced with financial challenges,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO. “We’ll be using this grant to help with needs that might cause a family to have to surrender a pet to a shelter, such as veterinary care or pet food.”

Cotton is the first beneficiary of Petco Love’s grant to BVSPCA. This sweet senior needed dental extractions that his owner couldn’t afford after losing her job due to a life-altering injury. We’re grateful for the support from Petco Love to be able to help families like Cotton’s!
