Saving Sweetness

3/25/25

Happy Gotcha Day to Sweetness!

Nearly two months ago, Sweetness was found starving, weak, and barely clinging to life, but thanks to the love and care he has received, Sweetness has shown everyone the power of second chances. Sweetness has been in foster with one of our staff members, who has been assisting with his medical care and healing. The sores on his legs have healed, and hes gained over 20 pounds since he first came in!

Watching him grow stronger and stronger every day, our staff member and her family realized that Sweetness wasnt just a temporary guesthe was family. Today, Sweetness is healthy, happy, and officially adopted! Proof that sometimes the best foster fails are actually the biggest wins!

We, and Sweetness, are so grateful to the caring kids and their mom who rescued him, the amazing team at the Veterinary Emergency Group and to all of you who have shared his story and supported his care with donations. Thank you and happy tails to Sweetness! These are the happy endings we live for!

Nearly a month ago, Sweetness was found starving, weak, and barely clinging to life. But thanks to the love and care he has received, this resilient boy is getting stronger every day!

Sweetness is gaining weight, walking farther, and showing everyone the power of second chances. In foster, Sweetness has been living with other dogs big and small as well as cats and children, and doing so well. We can't wait to celebrate when he is ready for his adoption debut.

It's because of your support that we have been able to help Sweetness on his journey. Every donation means we can continue to care for him and the others like him who count on us every day.

Thank you to Simone De Alba from WUSA9 in Washington, DC for sharing Sweetnesss road to recovery.

Alone, starving, and too weak to stand, Sweetness was near death when a group of kids found him lying on the ground behind their apartment building.

The kids had recently lost their family dog and wanted to help, so they carried Sweetness to their home, where they gave him a bath. When their mother arrived home from work, she quickly recognized how serious Sweetness condition was and called us for help.

Our responding Animal Control Officer rushed Sweetness to the emergency vet for urgent medical care where it was determined just how dire his case was. Sweetness is emaciated, dehydrated, and suffering from severe and painful sores on both of his front legs. It's not clear how long he had been on his own.

Sweetness is clearly a fighter, said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA Chief Executive Officer. We don't know how this poor dog found himself in these circumstances, but our team is doing everything we can to give him a second chance at the life he deserves.

Once Sweetness was stabilized, he came to the BVSPCA to continue his road to recovery. He is being fostered by a dedicated staff member, who can provide him with continued medical care and a loving home to rest while he heals.

We are grateful to the quick-thinking and caring kids and their mom, who rescued Sweetness and called for help, as well as our friends at the Veterinary Emergency Group for providing critical emergency care.

Sweetness road to recovery is just beginning, and the medical costs continue to mount. Your generous gifts give Sweetness the best chance at recovering and a safe and secure place to rest while we work to mend his body and soul.

Your donations also make it possible for us to always answer the call when animals like Sweetness need our help.

Donate now to support Sweetness' survival.
