A record 1,181 Mega adoptions!

A Mega Success for 1181 Animals

What a weekend! Our Mega Adoption Event resulted in an amazing 1181 family matches for our homeless pets. That’s 716 dogs and 465 cats now with families.

Adopted animals ranged from puppies and kittens to seniors and long-time shelter residents, including one senior dog named Heathcliff that had been at the shelter for 358 days. Just one dog and 11 cats remained at the end of the event, and we’re working hard to make sure they now get a home for the holidays as well. This was our fifth and most successful Mega ever.

Our goal with Mega is to help as many animals as possible, so we not only bring our animals, we invite shelters and rescues to share in the success with their animals. We brought all of the animals from our four adoption locations, except a few that might find the event venue overwhelming.  Plus we had eight shelter partners participate: Animal Rescue League of Berks County, BARCS (Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Center), Crossing Paths Animal Rescue, Currituck County Animal Shelter, Delaware Humane Association (DHA), Faithful Friends, Northeastern North Carolina SPCA, and St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center.

This huge achievement for the animals became possible thanks to you and all the other kind folks who came together to give these animals a second chance: our generous sponsors Petco Foundation and Discover, our amazing shelter partners locally and across the country, our staff and volunteers working literally night and day, you in our community who spread the word about the event, and especially the kind adopters who welcomed these wonderful pets into their homes. Thank you for being there for these animals who need us all working together!

We’re fortunate to have support from Petco Foundation and Discover, but it doesn’t come close to covering the cost of saving all these lives. Please donate today to help support our lifesaving mission.

About the Brandywine Valley SPCA
