Brandywine Valley SPCA Rushes to Save Dog Shot During Violent Incident in Chester, Pa

WEST CHESTER, PA (April 1, 2026) – The Brandywine Valley SPCA is racing to save the life of a dog critically injured during a deadly incident in Chester overnight.

 Diamond, a dog in the home, suffered devastating injuries after being shot in the face during the violent altercation. BVSPCA Animal Protective Services responded Wednesday morning to rush the dog to a trusted emergency veterinary partner where she was stabilized.

“It’s a miracle Diamond survived the night with the type of injuries she has sustained, but her prognosis isn't clear and her road to recovery is far from over,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are working with a vet partner to learn more about the extent of Diamond’s injuries and will do everything we can to save her.”

 Diamond remains hospitalized and is undergoing extensive diagnostics and evaluation to determine the full extent of her injuries and the complex care she will require. Her condition remains serious. The cost of lifesaving treatment is expected to be significant and as Diamond fights to survive, BVSPCA is asking the community to stand with her.
