WEST CHESTER, PA (DECEMBER 2, 2024) – Hundreds of pets in the four-state area will be looking for homes for the holidays as part of Brandywine Valley SPCA’s (BVSPCA) December Mega Adoption Event® in partnership with national non-profit organization Petco Love, BOBS® from Skechers® and Discover. The winter event will be held at all BVSPCA locations, as well as other regional participating shelters throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland on December 14 and 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens at all participating shelters will be available for adoption for just a $35 fee throughout the event.
“Our Megas are such an important lifesaving experience to give pets who have lost so much a chance to find families eager to give them a life full of love and care,” said Adam Lamb, BVSPCA CEO. “By bringing this Mega Adoption Event into our campuses and into the shelters of our partners, we are looking to save more lives, reach more local adopters, and open space to more animals in need in our region and beyond.”
“The energy and excitement at Mega Adoption events are incredible, because, by the end of the day, the lives of so many pets and people are about to change and all for the better. We’re so excited to spread the excitement across participating locations to reach even more families ready to adopt,” said Petco Love President, Susanne Kogut. “Shelter workers and volunteers work tirelessly to save these pets – and the feeling they get when the pets find loving homes fuels their passion to continue their lifesaving mission.”
“BOBS from Skechers is about looking good, feeling good and doing good. For every pair sold in North America, we donate to Petco Love to help save shelter animals—and through our offering, more than two million dogs and cats have found homes and received care,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “These Mega Adoption events are just another example of how people across the United States are making a difference.”
The Mega Adoption event will be held at all BVSPCA locations in West Chester, Plymouth Meeting, New Castle, Dover, Georgetown, and the Animal Rescue Center, as well as BVSPCA affiliate partners Animal Adoption Center (AAC) in New Jersey and Humane Society of Harrisburg Area (HSHA) in Harrisburg. Other organizations also participating in the Mega Adoption Event include Animal Care Shelter for Kent County, Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Humane Animal Partners, Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter, and Montgomery County Animal Shelter (TX). All participating locations will offer a $35 adoption fee for any puppy, kitten, dog, or cat. The adoption fee includes everything typically included in adoption fees at participating locations. The BVSPCA adoption fees include microchip, spay/neuter, and current vaccines.
A limited number of early access Fast Passes will be available for BVSPCA locations in West Chester, New Castle, Georgetown, and the Animal Rescue Center, as well as HSHA. Fast Passes give potential adopters access at 10 a.m., an hour ahead of general admission.
Adopters should bring a leash and collar for a dog adoption (also available for purchase), a carrier for a cat (cardboard carriers will be available for purchase), a valid ID, and the adoption fee. BVSPCA campuses will facilitate outdoor meet-and-greets for folks who bring dogs in their home to meet potential new canine family members.
BVSPCA-led Mega Adoption Events powered by Petco Love and BOBS® from Skechers® since 2016 have found homes for more than 18,000 pets.
