BRANDYWINE VALLEY SPCA ASKS PUBLIC TO CONSIDER ADOPTING PETS IN NEED DURING PETSMART CHARITIES NATIONAL ADOPTION WEEK 

Discount Adoption Events to Take Place at Local PetSmart Stores Oct. 21-26  

WEST CHESTER, PA [October 20, 2025] – Adopting a pet can bring special joy and companionship to their people.  The Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA) is proud to partner with PetSmart Charities® to bring adoptable pets to PetSmart stores across our footprint in support of National Adoption Week, taking place October 21-26, 2025.  

As is the case for many shelters across the country, Brandywine Valley SPCA kennels are overflowing with homeless pets looking for homes. To help families choose adoption this special week, BVSPCA is offering fee-waived adoptions on adult cats (6mos+) and adult dogs (1yr+) 30lbs and larger.  

Potential adopters are invited to join BVSPCA at adoption events across Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the Washington, DC area to spend time with adoptable pets of all ages, breeds and temperaments to find just the right match. Adopting a pet saves more than one life. Every pet who finds a home frees up space for shelters to help the next animal in need.  Adopting pets can help improve the health and wellness of people by reducing feelings of isolation and inspiring more active lifestyles. Caring for pets fosters values for children such as responsibility and selflessness.    

“Adoption events in the community are a vital tool in helping homeless animals find loving homes,” said Adam Lamb, Brandywine Valley SPCA CEO. “Thanks to the support of PetSmart Charities, we are able to participate in adoption events at seven different PetSmart stores in three states during this special adoption week.”

Making room in your heart and home for a pet frees up room for another pet to enter the shelter, so you’re really saving two lives — while also supporting the animal welfare professionals that care for so many lost and lonely pets. We’re proud to work alongside partners such as Brandywine Valley SPCA to make meaningful connections, giving more pets in need people to love.”
