Helping families stay together
No pet should end up in a shelter simply for financial reasons. Our free pet food pantry, which donated more than 16,000lbs of free pet food to families in need in the DC area last year, provides a bridge during times of need.
Distributions take place the first Sunday of each month from 9am - 11am at our shelter located at 4 DC Village Lane SW.
Donations to our Pet Food Pantry help keep pets in homes with their loving families and out of the shelter. You can support our Pet Pantry by donating the following supplies:
Dog Food: Both dry and wet
Cat Food: Both dry and wet
Cat Litter: Unscented, clumping or non-clumping
Gift Cards: PetSmart, Petco, Chewy or Amazon
That's in a single year across our entire organizational footprint. Many other factors have made it harder for families to care for the pets they love. We've stepped up our efforts to get those families food, donating 169,890lbs of free pet food to pet families in need in 2025.

We offer low-cost pet care, including wellness exams, vaccines, and preventative care. Appointments are required.
