Critter Camp 2021 - Covid 19 Safety Measures - Brandywine Valley SPCA

Critter Camp COVID-19 Safety Measures

The health and safety of your children are our priority. Based on the information that the CDC and American Camp Association are recommending, we are planning to execute Critter Camp using the following current Phase-specific guidelines and altering our plans as updates are released.

General

  • Keep attendance local, to limit children bringing the disease from high to low transmission areas
  • Staff and campers will be required to wear facial coverings
  • Restrict access to the shelter to avoid heavier trafficked areas
  • All animal interaction will be conducted in the classroom or outdoor reserved spaces
    dedicated to camp
  • Classroom will be divided up into two smaller groups each day

Monitoring

Monitoring health and absenteeism of campers and staff:

  • Temperature screening will occur daily at check-in for campers and staff
  • Health data will be tracked daily and monitored
  • Symptomatic staff or campers will be dismissed immediately and unable to return until a 14-day
  • quarantine is complete
  • Parents will be asked to monitor and have camper stay at home if they become symptomatic.
  • Parents will be asked to communicate to BVSPCA should a camper become symptomatic

Distancing

  • Enforce moderate social distancing protocols
  • Maximize outdoor activities and open windows, use fans where applicable
  • Restrict mixing of groups
  • Restrict visitors by having virtual guest speakers
  • Avoid gathering in common areas If it is necessary, stagger visits and disinfect in between

Sanitation

  • Enforce regular handwashing with soap and water at least once an hour
  • Enforce regular hand sanitation
  • Regular sanitation with EPA approved cleaner that include all flat surfaces and door handles
  • Provide individual materials for each camper like art supplies or toys
  • Disinfect any shared materials between use
  • Deep clean after each camp session to prevent cross contamination from camp to camp
